Creative Reflections: An Expressive Arts Group
BISHOP KIDD AFTER-SCHOOL OFFERING
The “Creative Reflections” group aims to support youth (ages 12 – 15) in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and fostering self-confidence. Through expressive art activities like drawing, participants will explore personal values and beliefs and relationships with family and peers. The program is designed to help youth build self-esteem, feel strong in their sense of self, and resist negative external pressures.
Program Goals:
To help youth identify and explore their core values and beliefs
To encourage self-awareness, confidence, self-esteem and a strong sense of personal identity
To support youth in setting positive aspirations and experience greater sense of self-acceptance
To promote resilience against external pressures and increase emotional regulation
Program Details:
Format: Weekly sessions, led by a licensed therapist specializing in adolescent development
Duration: Each session will last approximately 75 minutes (3:15 PM to 4:30 PM)
Location: Art Room at Bishop Kidd Highschool, 1420 28 St SE, Calgary, AB T2A 0Y8
Confidentiality: Group members are asked to respect the confidentiality of the information shared within sessions. The therapist will also uphold confidentiality to the extent required by law, with the exception of any disclosures regarding risk of harm to self or others, instances of abuse or if documents are subpoenaed by the courts.

Meet the Facilitator
Wegahta Berhane MSW, RSW
Wegahta is a Registered Social Worker with a master’s degree in clinical social work. She has an extensive background working as a mental health therapist and a family counsellor with adolescents, adults and families in the community, hospital and residential treatment settings.
Outside of therapy, Wegahta enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature, and learning about new cultures. Wegahta was raised in four different countries making her no stranger to experiences of anxiety and adventure.
